The Gunderloch

The Gunderloch

The Gunderloch estate is located in the small village of Nackenheim. This town is situated on the banks of Rhine River at the foot of the ROTHENBERG. This is the farmed hillside vineyardsite which their town is known for.

Their great-great grandfather , Carl Gunderloch , a banker from Mainz , founded the Gunderloch estate in 1890. He bought excellent grand cru vineyard sites , NACKENHEIM ROTHENBERG , and became one of the pioneers of quality wine making on the Rhine River. And now , the fifth generation owners , Agnes and Fritz Hasselbach have been managing the 30 acres of vineyards in Nackenheim and Nierstein since 1979 , and also Fritz Hasselbach is a highly accredited winemarker.

In 2002 , the Winespectator Magazine celebrated him as the Only winemarker even to have received a perfect 100 Points score for not only one , but three of his wines. The 1992 , 1996 and 2001 Riesling TBA , Nackenheimer Oothenberg were each awarded with 100 Points.

Gunderloch Trocken 2006 , is fresh and fruity with Rheinhessen's signature minerality. Having citrus , herb and smoked nuts and smoky mineral notes with sappy juicy fruit on the palate.
