Château Léoville-Poyferré is a winery in the Saint-Julien appellation of the Bordeaux region of France. Château Léoville-Poyferré is also the name of the red wine produced by this property. The wine produced here was classified as one of fifteen Deuxièmes Crus (Second Growths) in the original Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855. Chateau Leoville Poyferre is not all on the same piece of land. While the Chateau itself neighbors Leoville Las Cases, the vineyards lie, somewhat scattered, further to the west in the appellation of Saint Julien.
Before the revolution, the estate, now divided into the three "Leoville" Chateaux, was one immense domaine belonging to Alexandre de Gasq. After the revolution, Jean de Gasq took control of the largest section of the vineyard, and subsequently gave part of this land as his daughter's dowry when she married the Baron Poyferre. Since the 1920's, it has been owned by the Medoc wine firm of Cuvelier et Fils. A wonderful vineyard site and high proportion of old vines give this chateau much potential. Increasingly richer and more complex, Leoville Poyferre is one of the rising stars in Saint Julien.

Increasingly richer and more complex, Leoville Poyferre is one of the rising stars in Saint Julien, the mixture of grape varieties being about 65 % Cabernet Sauvigon, 25 % Merlot, 8 % Petit Verdot, and 2 % Cabernet Franc.
Have you get their collection yet ? Here was their Top Vintages of the wines : 1959, 1982, 1983, 1995, 2000, 2001, 2004 & 2005.
